eThekwini Municipality says it unveiled infrastructure and water projects valued at R9 million in eNgonyameni, south of Durban, on 23 October 2026. The City published a detailed press statement on 24 October and added the handover to its municipal news page on 26 October.
The municipality attributes R8 million to a newly constructed access bridge and a one-kilometre concrete road replacing infrastructure damaged by recurring floods. It says the link is intended to improve access to public transport, schools and healthcare facilities, and that concrete was selected for weather resilience.
A further approximately R1 million is attached to the Tafelkop Borehole Project. The City describes it as part of a wider programme to install 94 boreholes in targeted water-scarce communities while longer-term water infrastructure is developed.
The handover also included houses associated with the Vumengazi Rural Housing Project and a rectification programme. The R9 million headline, however, is presented for the road, bridge and borehole works; the reviewed statement does not allocate part of that amount to housing.
Neither the municipal news item nor the press statement identifies tender or contract references, contractors, procurement dates, borehole yield, the number of households served or independent completion records. The amounts and delivery claims therefore remain municipal disclosures pending project-level procurement and performance records.
