eThekwini Municipality reported that more than R127m had been invested through its Inner-City Road Rehabilitation Programme. Its 23 July statement listed 13 roads rehabilitated during the 2025/26 financial year.
The named routes include Umngeni Road, Dr Pixley ka Seme Street, K E Masinga Road, Masabalala Yengwa Avenue, Sandile Thusi Road, Margaret Mncadi Avenue, Soldiers Way, Smiso Nkwanyana Road and the M4 Inkosi Albert Luthuli Freeway.
The municipal release says four projects were completed entirely by municipal teams and one used a combination of internal and contracted resources. It does not provide a contract-by-contract award schedule in the statement.
What it means
The release is a programme update. Contract values, suppliers and completion certificates need to be matched to the procurement record before attributing the full programme spend to a named contractor.
