eThekwini Municipality says a fire at a vehicle-repair workshop on Chris Hani Road in Redhill damaged about 20 vehicles on 27 October 2026. The incident appeared on the municipal news page on 28 October.

The City says it received the emergency call shortly before 15:00. Firefighters deployed three hose lines and five fire appliances, including an aerial ladder platform, after finding smoke coming from the front and side of the building.

According to the municipal statement, crews confined the fire to the workshop, prevented it from spreading to neighbouring businesses and fully extinguished it within two hours. Metro Police managed traffic, and no injuries were reported.

The cause remains under investigation. The reviewed municipal records provide no estimate of the property loss, identify no affected business or vehicle owners, and make no finding on liability or regulatory compliance.

What it means

The incident records an emergency-services response and material property damage, but the cause, financial loss and any compliance failures cannot be established until the investigation is completed.
