eThekwini Municipality says it hosted international leaders, investors and business delegates at a mayoral reception on 24 October 2026 ahead of the third reSURGEnce Durban Conference. The City added the reception to its municipal news page on 26 October.

The municipality describes the programme as an effort to strengthen global partnerships, trade and investment opportunities for African businesses. Its earlier media invitation scheduled conference and exhibition sessions for 26 and 27 October at the Durban Exhibition Centre, followed by business-to-business engagements on 28 October.

The City says delegates were expected from South Africa, the United States, Zambia and Uganda. The stated theme is ‘Decreasing Barriers by Increasing Access’, with an emphasis on market access and opportunities for micro, small and medium enterprises.

The reviewed municipal items do not identify participating companies, signed deals, investment values, procurement references, public expenditure on the event or measurable business outcomes. The announcement therefore records an event and its stated purpose, not a verified investment or contract result.

What it means

The conference may create business introductions, but its public value cannot yet be assessed without a post-event register of participants, commitments, costs and concluded transactions.
