The package covers 1.85 kilometres of new 1,600mm-diameter steel pipeline connecting the Southern Aqueduct to the Durban Heights Water Treatment Works reservoir. The City says the cross-connection chambers and air-valve infrastructure are complete and that the new line is being connected while ageing infrastructure is progressively decommissioned.
The official tender-award register identifies the procurement as WS-7802, covering Work Packages 3, 4, 5 and 6. It records four awards dated 6 September 2024: R217.7 million to Heinsite Construction, R208 million to Jamjo Civils, R190,761,960.76 to MSB Ultra Siqu JV and R150,041,733.24 to WK Construction SA. Together they total R766,503,694.
