eThekwini Municipality said its South Regional Business Indaba was scheduled for 2 October 2026 at KwaMnyandu Shopping Centre in uMlazi, opening a three-day South Regional Durban Business Fair.

The municipal media notice, published on 1 October, said more than 150 exhibitors were expected under the theme “Growing Thriving Township Economies: Connecting MSMEs to Markets and Opportunities”. It listed funding, property opportunities, market access, procurement and business growth among the programme topics.

The notice named GalxBoy founder and creative director Thatiso Dube as a speaker and said Mayor Cyril Xaba would outline the municipality’s plans to support businesses and township economies. It also listed representatives from PRASA, the Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency, Ithala Bank, Idwala Property Group and Vinyl Entertainment.

This record preserves what the city announced before the event. The source does not establish final attendance, transactions, procurement awards or funding commitments, and Civic Ledger has not treated the advertised programme as proof that those outcomes occurred.

What it means

The notice shows the municipality using its regional business-fair programme to connect small firms with public and private institutions. Any later claim about contracts, finance secured or market access delivered will require a post-event or procurement record.
