eThekwini Municipality added the signing of the GO!Durban Corridor 3 Process Agreement to its news page on 2 November 2026. The agreement was signed with representatives of the minibus-taxi and bus industries on 30 October; Civic Ledger published this report on 3 November.

C3 is intended to run between Bridge City in KwaMashu and Pinetown and to become the first operating corridor in eThekwini's Integrated Public Transport Network. The municipality continues to target a December 2026 passenger-service launch.

The process agreement establishes how affected bus and minibus-taxi operators will participate in the system. The City says services will be delivered through formal Vehicle Operating Companies contracted to the municipality.

The signing is not the final operating contract or proof that passenger service has commenced. Before launch, the City says operating contracts must still be finalised and infrastructure, vehicles, fare systems and other systems must complete testing and commissioning.

The reviewed municipal records disclose no agreement value, operating-contract value, fare schedule, final service date, fleet size, passenger-capacity forecast or procurement reference. The new bus and Westrich Station fare gates were demonstrated at the event, but those demonstrations do not establish full corridor readiness.

What it means

The agreement reduces an institutional barrier to launching C3, but the commercial and operational arrangements required for service remain incomplete and undisclosed.
